ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, just added powerful AI video creation tools to CapCut, their popular video editing app. The new feature, called Dreamina Seedance 2.0, can generate entire videos just by typing what you want to see.
This puts ByteDance in direct competition with OpenAI’s Sora and other AI video tools that have been making waves. But unlike some competitors, ByteDance is rolling this out to millions of regular users right away through CapCut.
Safety Guards Built In
The most interesting part? ByteDance built protections right into the system. The AI refuses to make videos using real people’s faces without permission. It also blocks attempts to copy copyrighted content like movie scenes or brand logos.
This comes as other AI video tools face lawsuits over training data and deepfake concerns. ByteDance seems to be learning from those problems before they happen.
CapCut already has over 200 million users worldwide who edit videos for social media. Now they can generate completely new footage without filming anything. Just type “cat playing piano in space” and watch the AI create it.
What’s Next
Expect to see AI-generated content flooding social media as this rolls out globally. ByteDance is betting that built-in safety features will keep them ahead of regulatory troubles that other AI companies are facing. The real test will be whether users actually want AI videos or prefer the authentic, amateur feel that made TikTok famous.
