Google just opened up its Personal Intelligence feature to all US users for free. This AI assistant can peek into your Gmail, Google Drive, and other Google apps to give you personalized answers and suggestions.
Before this week, you had to pay for Google’s premium AI subscription to get these smart features. Now anyone with a free Google account can ask Gemini to find specific emails, summarize documents, or even plan trips based on what’s already in their Google apps.
Your Digital Life Gets Smarter
Personal Intelligence works by connecting all your Google services together. Ask it “What did my doctor say about my test results?” and it’ll search through your Gmail to find the answer. Need to remember what you wrote in that work document last month? Gemini can dig through your Google Drive and tell you.
The feature learns from your actual data to give more relevant responses. Instead of generic answers, it knows your specific situation and preferences because it has access to your real emails, calendar, and files.
Google’s move makes sense as competition heats up with ChatGPT and other AI assistants. By giving away premium features for free, they’re betting more people will stick with Google’s ecosystem instead of switching to rivals.
What’s Next
This is currently US-only, but Google will likely expand to other countries soon. The company is clearly pushing to make AI assistants feel less like chatbots and more like digital helpers who actually know you. Expect other tech giants to follow with their own free AI upgrades.
