Microsoft is bringing its Copilot AI assistant to Xbox consoles this year. The Gaming Copilot will help players with tips, guides, and support while they’re playing games.
This marks the first time Xbox has added a built-in AI assistant directly to its gaming consoles. Instead of pausing to look up walkthroughs online or ask friends for help, players could simply ask their Xbox for assistance.
Your Xbox Becomes Your Gaming Buddy
Sonali Yadav, Xbox’s product manager for gaming AI, announced the news at the Game Developers Conference. The AI assistant will appear on current Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, meaning millions of existing Xbox owners will get this feature through a software update.
Microsoft hasn’t revealed exactly what Gaming Copilot can do yet, but the company has been testing AI assistants that can explain game mechanics, suggest strategies, and even help players who are stuck on difficult levels. Think of it like having a knowledgeable friend sitting next to you who knows every game.
The move puts Xbox ahead of PlayStation in the AI gaming race. Sony hasn’t announced similar AI assistant features for its PS5 console.
What’s Next
Microsoft plans to expand Gaming Copilot to more Xbox services beyond just consoles. The company is likely testing the feature now and could announce more details at upcoming gaming events this summer. Expect the AI assistant to launch as a free update for current Xbox owners.
