Actor Riz Ahmed Launches Creative Platform for Artists

Oscar-winning actor Riz Ahmed has been named guest curator of WePresent, WeTransfer’s arts platform that showcases creative work from around the world. Ahmed joins previous curators like Marina Abramović and Solange Knowles to help guide what gets featured on the platform.

Ahmed brings a unique philosophy to the role. He believes all creative work should answer two questions: Does it stretch you as an artist? And does it stretch culture forward?

Beyond Your Comfort Zone

For Ahmed, stretching isn’t just about trying something new or scary. He wants artists to tap into what he calls “divine creativity” – a flow state where you forget yourself completely and become part of something bigger. “Life’s most transcendent moments are when you forget yourself,” Ahmed explains. “When you’re so present, it’s kind of like your sense of self dissolves into the moment.”

This approach has guided Ahmed’s own career from Emmy-winning acting in “The Night Of” to his Oscar-winning short film “The Long Goodbye.” He’s also working on a new film adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet that ties into his vision of stretching culture.

WePresent gives millions of artists a chance to showcase their work through WeTransfer, the file-sharing service used by creative professionals worldwide. Ahmed plans to use his curator role to highlight work that pushes boundaries and creates “ripples in culture.”

What’s Next

Ahmed’s curatorial work will focus on finding artists who blend mystical creativity with cultural impact. Expect to see more experimental projects that challenge both creators and audiences.
