Cotopaxi just launched luggage designed to be repaired instead of thrown away. Their new Coraza suitcases ditch zippers entirely and use snap-on parts you can fix at home or in a hotel room.
This matters because broken zippers kill most suitcases. You overstuff your bag, yank the zipper too hard, and suddenly your $300 suitcase becomes an expensive paperweight. Most brands either make you ship it back for weeks-long repairs or just send you a new one while the broken bag hits the landfill.
No More Zipper Nightmares
Cotopaxi’s solution is surprisingly simple: get rid of zippers completely. The Coraza uses reinforced snap-on latches with built-in TSA locks instead. When something breaks, the company ships you a replacement part for free, along with a QR code that links to repair videos.
The whole suitcase is built this way. Wheels pop off and snap back on. Handles can be swapped out. Even the interior organizers are modular and removable. The outdoor gear company spent years developing this approach after realizing most luggage failures happen to just a few key parts.
Cotopaxi is betting travelers want luggage that lasts longer than a few trips. Instead of buying a new suitcase every time something breaks, you’d just order a $10 part and watch a YouTube-style video to fix it yourself.
