Google just added a new “notebooks” feature to its Gemini AI chatbot that lets you organize all your project materials in one place. Think of it like a smart folder that remembers everything about your specific topics and projects.
This is actually pretty clever. Instead of starting fresh every time you chat with Gemini, you can now dump all your related files, old conversations, and special instructions into these notebooks. Then when you ask Gemini questions, it already knows the full context of what you’re working on.
Your AI Assistant Gets a Memory
Here’s how it works: Say you’re planning a wedding. You can create a wedding notebook and toss in your budget spreadsheet, photos of venues you liked, and that long conversation you had with Gemini about catering options last week. Next time you ask “What’s my total budget again?” Gemini will know exactly what you’re talking about.
Google is clearly trying to make Gemini more useful for ongoing projects instead of just one-off questions. Right now, most people use AI chatbots like search engines – ask a question, get an answer, start over. But real work happens over weeks and months with tons of related files and decisions.
What’s Next
The feature is rolling out now to Gemini users. Google hasn’t said if this will be free or require a paid subscription. Expect other AI companies to copy this idea quickly – Microsoft’s Copilot and OpenAI’s ChatGPT will probably announce similar organizing features soon.
