Trump Plans Gold-Covered Presidential Library Skyscraper

Trump Plans Gold-Covered Presidential Library Skyscraper

The Trump Organization announced plans to build Donald Trump’s presidential library as a towering Miami skyscraper covered in gold details. Unlike traditional presidential libraries that look like museums, this one will resemble Trump’s luxury hotels.

This breaks with decades of presidential library tradition. Most former presidents build modest, museum-style buildings to house their papers and artifacts. Trump’s version will be a massive tower with golden escalators, a gold statue of himself, and a presidential jet in the lobby.

White House Ballroom Gets Miami Copy

The most unusual feature might be a full recreation of Trump’s proposed White House ballroom inside the library. The architect says it will match the 90,000-square-foot ballroom being planned for the actual White House – essentially giving Trump two identical ballrooms.

The library will be built near Miami’s Freedom Tower, designed by Bermello Ajamil, the same firm behind many Miami skyscrapers. Eric Trump and the Trump Organization are leading the project, continuing the family’s real estate empire.

Presidential libraries started in 1939 when FDR donated his presidential papers to create a public archive. Since then, 16 presidents have built libraries, but they’ve typically been understated buildings focused on education and history rather than luxury displays.

What’s Next

This will be America’s 17th official presidential library, but probably its most extravagant. Construction timeline and costs haven’t been announced, but if Trump’s other buildings are any guide, expect more gold details than any library in history.
